Answers about privacy, file length, languages and exports.

Is my audio stored?

Audio is sent only for transcription. Piepo does not keep it on the server. Transcripts stay in your browser unless you choose to share them.

How long can a recording be?

Imported files and live sessions can each be up to 2 hours.

How do I transcribe a YouTube video?

Open the video in another tab. In Piepo, press the microphone, choose Computer audio, then pick the video's tab and turn on “Share audio”. Play the video and the text appears as it plays. This works in Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Which formats can I export?

TXT, SRT, VTT, DOCX and PDF. Downloads are free and use no transcription time.

Can it label speakers?

Yes. Turn on Speaker labels before you start and rename speakers afterwards.

Recording other people

Live transcription processes audio in real time as you speak. If you plan to record or transcribe other people, make sure you have whatever consent the law requires where you are — rules on recording conversations vary widely by country and region.

Where should Piepo listen?

Tip: for a YouTube video, choose Computer audio and share the video's tab.

When you start, your browser asks what to share. Pick a tab, a window or your whole screen and turn on “Share audio”. Whole-computer audio works in Chrome or Edge on Windows and ChromeOS; on a Mac, share a browser tab.
