Private beta. Piepo is in development. Places are limited, and it is free while in development. No paid plan is offered. Features and limits may change.
What you can do
- Transcribe live while you speak, and watch the text appear.
- Import an audio or video recording and get a transcript with speakers and timestamps.
- Add a list of names and specialist terms to improve recognition.
- Search, edit and rename speakers in saved transcripts, and export TXT, SRT, VTT, DOCX or PDF for free.
- Share a transcript through an encrypted link that expires after 1, 7 or 30 days, and revoke it at any time.
Free allowance and limits
- Each new account receives a one-time transcription allowance. It is not renewed.
- Recordings can be up to two hours long. Live sessions can be up to two hours.
Before any transcription starts, Piepo shows the duration, how much of your allowance it will use, and what remains. The service can pause for everyone if its monthly provider budget runs out.
How your audio is handled
Recordings are prepared in your browser. Audio is sent through Piepo's server in Finland to Deepgram's EU-hosted speech service, only to produce the transcript you asked for, and Deepgram is instructed not to use it to improve its models. Piepo's server does not keep your audio and never stores a readable transcript; at most it holds a short-lived recovery copy, encrypted with a key that stays in your browser. Transcripts are saved only in your own browser, if you choose to save them. If you create a share link, the transcript is encrypted in your browser first and the key stays in the link. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Good to know
- Keep the tab open while a recording is processed. Long recordings work best in a desktop browser, because the whole file is prepared on your device.
- Automatic transcripts can contain mistakes. Check anything important before you rely on it.
- Ask for permission before recording other people where the law requires it.
